Two Greatest Riders

$5.00

Reproduction Poster- Two Greatest Riders 1897 Size 18 X 24 inches One of the most interesting and unique of all circus poster images ever created. We are offered a marvelous contrast between two social classes of equestriennes: On the left is the rube country gal, with a plain brown dress of the working girl, riding a green-ribboned brown nag who is deliberately made to look like a rundown plow horse. On the right, representing the upper classes, is a damsel in a pink skirt and many-colored bodice carrying a fan and wearing a green bonnet with pink bows. Her horse is, of course, a pure rosin back horse, Although the performers are not named, the skills displayed were those of two great equestriennes, Josie Ashton and Rose Wentworth. Several gaily costumed clowns complete the amusing act which is best described by the poem in the lower right " The two greatest riders in horse sketches true/ Of Paradise Alley and Fifthe Avenoo
